"I've always been confused with my gender identity since I was this big"... - Bruce Jenner
The world's most famous reality T.V.
And if any of you watched tonight's ABC interview with Diane Sawyer, you would know that a straight to the point tell all is just what the doctor deliverT!
In what appeared to be an emotional and soul bearing interview, Bruce Jenner opened up about his life long secret of identifying as a woman, and even shed tears while discussing carrying the weight of his feminine desires since childhood.
The interview in it's entirety was a definite eye opener on MANY levels concerning Bruce's new reality (including his admission about his lifestyle to his sister and ex-wives) but below are five of my personal takeaways from his story.
Bruce identified as a female before adulthood - During the interview Bruce recalls the first time he related to being a woman was at the age of eight. When Bruce was a child he would sneak and try on his sister's dresses along with one of his mother's scarves while she was away. "At that time I didn't know why I was doing it besides it just made me feel good...I would put a scarf over my head because my hair was short."
Bruce started taking hormone pills in the 1980's - Aside from the entire interview being a Friday night shocker, what was even more surprising was Bruce's confession to taking estrogen pills to transition into a woman as early as the 1980's! "I started on hormones [in the 80's]. I did it almost 5 years." He also admitted to having surgeries on his face (no shocker there!) beginning with his nose and having painful electrolysis to remove hair from his beard and his chest.
Bruce wore a 36B bra cup size by the time he dated Kris Jenner - Estrogen pills are a heck of a drug, and did wonders for Bruce's bra size during the five years he took them. So much so that by the time he and Kris got serious he had to confess that she wouldn't be the only adult in the house with boobies. Kris also got a taste of his liking to women's clothing during private moments around the house (And to think, some of you thought Kris was blind sided!).
Bruce sees himself as a heterosexual - "There's two different things here. Sexuality is who you are sexually attracted to, who personally turns you on [male or female] but gender identity is how to do with who you are as a person and your soul and who you identify with inside...I never was attracted to the guys or any of that kind of stuff because sexuality was totally different than what my issues were...I'm not gay. As far as I know I'm heterosexual. I've never been with a guy. I've always been married, raising kids.
Khloe Kardashian had the hardest time accepting the change - Khloe, who comes off as the most carefree Kardashian of them all, surprisingly had a harder time accepting her step dad's newfound persona. In the interview Bruce lightly touched on KoKo's feelings and attributed her reaction to the loss she's received from loved ones (her biological father, and Lamar) in her life.
It's interesting to note the apparent support Bruce's children (outside of Kris Jenner) and two ex-wives gave throughout his coming out segment.
But not to be fooled by the lack of sound bites received from the Kardashians! Both Khloe and Kylie showed their love and support through Instagram and twitter by posting sentimental thoughts and images of Bruce, while their mother Kris gave famed blogger Perez Hilton a sit down moment after he alluded that the momager wanted nothing to do with his story.
Check out their responses below.
Well alrighty then! Best of luck Bruce
