It turns out the famous Wal-Mart phrase, "Save money live better" took a completely different take yesterday as Wal-Mart visitors received 2 surprises. One being a visit from Beyoncé, and the other being a gift card from the Queen herself! (Now if that ain't saving money, and living better by seeing Bey herself, I don't know what is!)
The pop singer reportedly stopped by a Wal-Mart in Tewksbury, Massachusetts to do some last minute Christmas shopping, and decided to get customers shopping there a little something-something as well.
The store manager of the local Wal-Mart reported that they received $37,000 worth of sales in gift cards, bought from Bey, with a personalized message attached that read, "Happy Holidays from Beyoncé."
With a surprise visit and gracious gesture from Beyoncé, Wal-Mart is a retailer that seems to be winning this holiday season! As for Target...not so much.
A few days ago Target released a statement saying they would not be carrying Bey's album, and offered an explanation as to why.
"At Target we focus on offering our guests a wide assortment of physical CDs, and when a new album is available digitally before it is available physically, it impacts demand and sales projections," Target spokesperson Erica Julkowski said in a statement to E! News.
She further elaborated, "While there are many aspects that contribute to our approach and we have appreciated partnering with Beyoncé in the past, we are primarily focused on offering CDs that will be available in a physical format at the same time as all other formats. At this time, Target will not be carrying Beyonce's new self-titled album 'Beyonce.'"
Well...that SHHUUUUCKS! Although I completely understand their reasoning behind making such a big decision. Heck, Target gotta get that check too! Nevertheless yaaaay Wal-Mart!
Side note-That makes the 100th Beyoncé sighting I've missed :(
*Update-It's also been reported that Beyoncé just struck a deal to sell her album with leading coffee chain Starbucks; which is in almost every...wait for it...Target store out there! Ladies and Gents, now that's what we call jumping through a loophole! That dangum Bey!
