Nicki Minaj Talks Near Death Experience in Fader Magazine

NIcki Minaj - The FADER cover

So this is why Nicki has yet to respond to the 'Flawless' remix diss record. She doesn't have the time!

Nicki Minaj is having the best couple of days ever! Despite the backlash she recently received after releasing her booty popping backside shot for 'Anaconda', and most recently Lil Kim's attempt to shade the 'Bang Bang' rapper right out of her own remix to Flawless, she still continues to reign on the throne and rule as number 1 (literally, the girl currently holds 9 number 1 spots in 9 different countries for her Sir Mix A Lot inspired hit 'Anaconda').

And her latest feat to date is being the cover girl for Fader magazine's August/September 2014 issue!

Inside, the female Rap-A-Zon dishes on everything from her "no shade" (but really it was shade) comment about female rappers not writing their own rhymes, black women being respected in corporate America, and a further elaboration on her near death experience comment made at the BET awards.

Check out excerpts from the interview below.

Nicki's views on the importance of respect for black women in corporate America: "Every time I do a business venture or something that isn't the norm for a female rapper, I pat myself on the back. It's important that corporate America can see a young black woman being able to sell things outside of music."

Nicki elaborates on the infamous "no shade" comment: "My point of saying what I said was that women need to have a perspective. If we’re out here saying that we’re so confident, and we’re so this and so that, but we don’t even trust ourselves to write down our own thoughts and spit it on a beat? It just doesn’t add up."

Nicki's thoughts on her near death experience: "I was making a point to say that the business kills so many people and we don’t even realize it. I can only imagine how many people in this business have died because they may not have wanted to [pauses] to be embarrassed publicly. We care so much about what the world thinks that we don’t live, really."

Side note: When Nicki was asked to speak more on what brought on the near death experience she declined to comment saying, "I don't even want to talk about it." Hmm, well at least she's ok now!
