'Saturday Night Live' Hires First Black Female Comedian, Sasheer Zamata, In 5 Years! (Video Inside!)
"It's been a lonnnng, a long time coming, but I knoooow a change gonna come. Oh yes it will." Now this is a good switch up for SNL! Welcome back women of color!
Saturday Night Live has finally snagged what they've been looking for; a black female comedic actress to become apart of 2014's SNL family.
Sasheer Zamata, ended the 5 year hiatus after auditioning for the late-night live television sketch comedy show in New York City. Zamata will be the first black female cast member since the departure of Maya Rudolph in 2007.
Last year the show came under fire for a lack of diversity on the show in which SNL poked fun at it's own controversy with a skit that featured Kerry Washington in November.
The comedian's first debut will be January 18th with Drake as the musical guest.
Zamata is a graduate of the University of Virginia, and trained at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York.

Congrats Sasheer! You've got my vote :)
